OUR MISSION
At University Park we provide a safe and inclusive environment in which all staff collaborate in ways that result in continuous improvement of a learning model that maximizes learning for all student in all learning environment.
University Park Elementary, established in 1967, was the first school built in the Irvine Unified School District. The staff and community take pride in its rich heritage and their dedication to providing a top-notch education for a diverse and dynamic population. As a Title 1 school, University Park hosts the Essentials special education program and supports a portion of its special education students through a Learning Center model, which promotes learning in the least restrictive environment. We celebrate cultural diversity, with over 20 languages spoken across the school.
The mission of University Park is for all staff to collaborate in creating and continuously improving a learning model that maximizes success for all students in every learning environment. Our teachers participate in professional development to ensure the implementation of best instructional practices. At University Park, we focus on the whole child and were among the first schools to implement Positive Behavior and Intervention Support (PBIS) school-wide. We believe that teaching expected behaviors and reinforcing them positively maximizes instructional time and supports a rigorous curriculum. Through PBIS, we promote the core values of Positive Mindset, Respect, Integrity, Dependability, and Safety, also known as Panther P.R.I.D.E. Additionally, our tiered system of support ensures that students receive the Social Emotional Learning (SEL) support they need.
University Park’s teachers and staff emphasize respect for each individual student, their learning strengths, and the belief that, despite challenges, all students can learn.
